'Greece: A State With Weak Institutions, in Crisis': Professor Spyridon Flogaitis
On Thursday 31st October 2013, Professor Spyridon Flogaitis of the University of Athens spoke at an event held at Wolfson College in association with the Wolfson Law Society.
Professor Flogaitis has a Degree in Law (Hon), from the Athens University (1973), a Docteur en Droit (Summa cum laude) from the University of Paris II (Pantheon-Assas) (1978), a Docteur en Histoire (Summa cum laude) from the University of Paris I (Pantehon-Sorbonne), and a Diplome de l’Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes, IVeme Sction–Histoire et Philologie. He is Doctor honoris causa, at the National School of Political Science and Public Administration, Bucarest and at the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon.
Professor Flogaitis is also a Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur (French Republic), and Cavalliere del’Ordine di Merito (Italian Republic). He is currently a Professor of Administrative Law at the University of Athens; Director of the European Public Law Organization (Greece); Attorney at Law at the High Court and the Council of State (Greece); and member of the Appeals Board of the European Space Agency.
He was former President of the United Nations Administrative Tribunal (UNAT), former Minister of Interior, Public Administration and Decentralization (Aug-Sept. 2007); and former Minister of Interior (Aug-Sept. 2009).
